Fans Found an Unlikely Ted Lasso Connection to Polar Express
It is a fact that the Simpsons can read the future.
The animated sitcom have predicted some of the major world events such as Donald Trump becoming president, the 9/11 attacks and the COVID-19 pandemic.
But now it looks like the 2004 The Polar Express by Robert Zemeckis foretold…Ted Lasso!
A redditor u/tundraportal has started a thread posting a picture of a Santa-skeptical boy Billy on a train travelling to the North Pole. The boy's wearing a blue jersey and his hair is done in sort of Ted Lasso fashion (almost). No moustache though. But the most striking thing is that Billy is holding a train ticket with a lot of holes punched in it in the shape of the word BELIEVE (kudos to Tom Hanks!). A picture of Ted Lasso with his signature BELIEVE sign is next to Billy's. Does it ring a bell?
The commenters were happy the Billy has grown up a good person and turned into Ted to become one of the best soccer coaches ever. Even if he doesn't know a thing about it. And while some said that it was just a coincidence because they do happen in life, others suspected that it was all done on purpose. Another theory is that Ted Lasso is actually the train conductor – the character played by Tom Hanks – because a moustache is what every conductor is all about in the first place, apparently.
The Polar Express will turn 20 years in 2024 and it is still one of the best Christmas holiday season flicks ever made. We all watched it as kids and some of us even showed the movie to our kids. But what about Ted Lasso?
Just like Billy, we all believe in miracles - more specifically that Apple TV+ Ted Lasso Season 3, which should have premiered this fall, will happen one day in 2023. Hopefully, all of the issues hampering the production of the show will be resolved and we will get the pleasure of re-uniting with our favorite Rebecca, Beard, Nate, Kelly and Roy Kent.
But the season will be the last one for the Ted Lasso series, which means we will see how all of the characters' arcs end – what will become of Nate and how Ted will get back to his son in Kansas.
In the meantime we have to be patient as for the time being no official release date for Season 3 has been announced.
