Fingers Crossed: 5 Criminal Minds Fan Favorites Who Can Still Return in Evolution S2
We all want them back.
One of the secret ingredients of Criminal Minds: Evolution success was the fact that almost all of the OG characters returned to solve new cases. But unfortunately, not all of them.
Fans are still hoping that the actors who didn't join the cast in the first season will do so in the second, and here's a list of those who may well please fans with a triumphant return.
1. Derek Morgan
Derek Morgan, played by Shemar Moore, was part of the BAU team from the beginning until he left to become a family man in season 11.
The actor now has a starring role on S.W.A.T., but still has made several guest appearances. Fans are still waiting for him to appear in the reboot, just to see him reunite with his "baby girl" Penelope Garcia.
2. Aaron Hotchner
Over the course of 15 seasons of Criminal Minds, many characters have left the show, but the departure of Aaron Hotchner may have been the most unexpected. Thomas Gibson had numerous conflicts on set. The show's creators refused to take it anymore when the actor kicked a set worker again in 2016.
Although the actor's behavior was obviously unacceptable, his character was so beloved by fans that they are still waiting for his return. Perhaps after so many years, all grievances are forgotten and the former BAU head will return at least in a cameo.
3. Alex Blake
In season 8, Blake was added to the cast after the departure of Emily Prentiss. The character was also another strong female agent which fans loved from the first sight. However, the season 9 finale also marked the end of Blake's work at the BAU.
Alex had a great relationship with the other profilers, and given the fact that the audience simply adored the character, there is nothing stopping her from returning to the show.
4. Kevin Lynch
Kevin Lynch appeared on the show when Garcia was shot in season 3 – he helped the profilers figure out who shot Penelope.
Another tech genius in Criminal Minds: Evolution seems particularly relevant because the case they're currently working on centers on the dark web of murderers.
5. Dr. Spencer Reid
Dr. Spencer Reid was one of the most popular characters among Criminal Minds viewers. Many fans wanted to see him in Evolution, but as luck would have it, Matthew Gray Gubler was one of the few who was unable to reprise his role.
Now, there’s a lot of hope that Reid will return. Considering the fact that Gubler was not able to return to the set, not because of reluctance, but because of a busy schedule, the picture is quite positive.
