'MobLand' Renewed for Season 2 — But Will We See It Before 2028?

Is Paramount+ playing a dangerous game with fans' patience?
Paramount+ has officially greenlit Season 2 of its breakout crime drama MobLand, but while executives pop champagne, fans are left nervously eyeing the calendar. Despite the show’s chart-topping success — over 26 million viewers and counting — the absence of a release date has sparked Reddit debates, conspiracy-level predictions, and some truly unfiltered fan frustration.
"We are elated to greenlight a second season of this global phenomenon." According to Variety, said Co-CEO Chris McCarthy, praising the series' creative force — Guy, Jez, Ronan, David Glasser — and the powerhouse trio of Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. But while the execs are thrilled, Reddit threads are sounding the alarm.
One concerned fan (Cared-Engineer-6218) lamented, "It’s gonna take ages, isn’t it?" Another cast doubt on an early release, citing the star-studded ensemble: "With this cast? Fat chance. I'm thinking 2028."
And the scepticism isn’t without precedent. As some fans have pointed out, Tom Hardy’s Taboo Season 2 was announced years ago with great fanfare — and yet, it remains unreleased to this day. For many, MobLand is beginning to feel eerily similar.
Still, a glimmer of hope shines through. As one optimist noted, production on Season 1 began in November and the series premiered swiftly after wrapping in March 2025.
"They might follow the same schedule. Could be a wait — but not 2027" they wagered.
So where does that leave us? Somewhere between cautious optimism and déjà vu disappointment.
