Make sure to leave a light on when you go to sleep.

Created by the mastermind behind the Train to Busan franchise, Parasyte: The Grey is a new Netflix horror hit that is sure to take over the world just like the parasites did in the show's on-screen universe. As thrilling and exciting as it is terrifying, Parasyte is certainly a great example of K-horror.

But it's not the only horror K-drama worthy of your attention. Here are 12 other Korean shows that can make it harder to fall asleep at night.

Nightmare Teacher (2016)

The private school at the center of this show is seemingly the same as many others. However, a creepy yet oddly charming teacher makes the students' lives change completely as their dreams begin to come true. The only problem is that the nightmares they're experiencing are also coming true, and now it's time to fight them before it's too late.

Strange School Tales (2020)

Another school-based horror that will make you glad you're already out of it. The series features a series of stories in the style of an anthology, all with a dark secret and a sinister motive. If you like the setting, don't mind a little blood, and are a fan of mind-bending mysteries, Strange School Tales is a perfect choice.

Black (2017)

Although the show is described as a fantasy thriller, Black has a lot to do with the concept of death and can give viewers some pretty realistic nightmares for days after the show ends. The show follows a literal Grim Reaper who is forced to track down his fugitive partner, but instead discovers the mystery behind cold murders.

The Cursed (2020)

When righteous reporter Jin-Hee is assigned to cover a violent case involving Forest, South Korea's largest IT company, she sticks to the truth. But the deeper she delves into her investigation, the more terrifying details she uncovers and the more paranormal cases she has to confront.

Hellbound (2021-...)

Upon its release in 2021, Hellbound made a lot of noise and quickly became popular. If you weren't ready to give a story about a sudden otherworldly force that took over the Earth and started sending people to Hell a try back then, now might be the best time to do so. Especially with the show about to return for its second season.

The Master's Sun (2013)

This K-drama is perfect for those who love ghost stories more than any other horror subgenre. It follows Tae Gong-shil who is haunted by her own supernatural abilities to see ghosts. Her whole life is ruined because of it, before she meets Joo Joong-won and notices that all ghostly noises stop as soon as she touches him.

Kingdom (2019-2020)

This is a rare example of a horror fantasy show in the period-like setting, so it can check the several boxes off the lists of those loving the costume dramas. Kingdom is a story of Lee Chang, the Crown Prince of Joseon, who attempts to investigate the mysterious illness, which ends up way too similar to what we know as zombies.

The Ghost Detective (2018)

When brilliant detective Lee Da-il investigates the death of his assistant's younger sibling, his ability to catch ghosts comes in handy. But it doesn't help him solve the mystery of a lady in a red dress who seems to show up at every crime scene. Her eerie presence is only the beginning of his troubles.

Strangers from Hell (2019)

When bright young man Yoon Jong-woo moves to Seoul to pursue his dream job, it feels like the world is at his feet. But he's forced to live in a shared apartment because he can't afford his own. That's when he starts to notice that his neighbors are acting extremely strange and even scary.

Goedam (2020)

If you are interested in Korean urban legends and scary stories passed down from generation to generation, this is the perfect series to get you started. In anthology style, it tells the stories of the mythical creatures that are supposed to be part of the lore, but turn out to be very real.

Sweet Home (2020-...)

Cha Hyun-su has already experienced enough pain and trauma in his life, as his whole family was killed in a massive tragedy. He moves into the apartment complex to start a new life, but is soon faced with another battle when the city is infiltrated by horrific creatures and he and his neighbors must survive without leaving their building.

All of Us Are Dead (2022-...)

When the evil mastermind of a professor starts a zombie awakening in the middle of chemistry class, the students have no choice but to hide and fight for survival. All drama must be put aside as they learn to work together and make it out of their hellish school alive and with their brains in one piece.
