One Grey's Anatomy storyline made fans question the realism of the medical drama show.

Grey's Anatomy has become popular for its dramatic storylines and wild plot twists, sometimes shocking and entertaining, sometimes horrifying and heartbreaking. Those twists and turns are what keeps millions of fans glued to their screens for 19 seasons.

However, sometimes in an attempt to shock and engage the audience, the medical show crosses the line between fantasy and reality. That's why many fans got involved in a discussion when one Reddit user asked on a subreddit dedicated to the ABC show what the most unrealistic thing that had ever happened in Grey's Anatomy was.

Everyone remembered a thing or two they found hard to believe starting with a plane crash with many survivors and ending with not a single sexual harassment lawsuit being filed and won.

One storyline turned out to be particularly unrealistic and disturbing for many viewers. It is a highly unethical Izzie/Denny arc happening in Season 2. Though many fans still remember and love Denny Duquette played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, his whole love story with Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) makes them question the realism of the show.

"I'm still mad at the Izzie and Denny arc, everything about it was unethical. I know it's drama and soap opera but it was reaaallly out there," a commenter wrote and others agreed.

The couple met at Grey Sloan Memorial. Denny was Izzie's patient which is already somewhat unethical, but their chemistry was so on point that they soon became one of the fan-favorite couples. Denny had a deadly heart condition and was on a heart transplant waiting list, but the right heart didn't come. So, lovesick, Izzie decided to take matters into her own hands.

She cut the wire to the machine that did his heart's job almost killing Denny in the process. This unethical action helped Denny get a donor heart out of turn. The transplant was successful, and both Izzie and the fans breathed a sigh of relief. However, the same night, Denny died from a surgery complication, leaving Izzie heartbroken and rich.

Other doctors soon found out what Izzie did but covered the whole situation up and got zero repercussions in the end. It all seemed ridiculous and disturbing to many viewers.

"[The fact] that Izzie and any of the other residents involved were ever allowed anywhere near a patient again AND the entire hospital wasn't banned from performing transplants after they covered it up is preposterous," one of the fans explained.
