Fans of the Amazon Prime series were shocked by an unexpected death of a beloved character. But is this death really irreversible?

Warning! Major spoilers ahead!

'The Boys ' provided viewers with a much-needed adult perspective on superheroes, exploring the darker and more controversial themes present in the superheroics genre. Billy Butcher (Karl Urban ) and his team of vigilantes return in the third installment of the saga, facing their most dangerous foe yet, Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles ). The mute superheroine Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara), also known as simply The Female, was Butcher's main weapon against the overpowered Homelander (Antony Starr ), thanks to her incredible strength and the ability to heal all the damage dealt to her, but it looks like the Boys will have to carry on without her from now on.

At the end of episode 4, Frenchy (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko infiltrate Russian soldiers' base, trying to steal their version of Compound V. There they encountered Soldier Boy, who unleashed an energy blast of incredible power aimed at the pair, leaving Kimiko almost dead. Fans weren't worried about her future at the time, knowing that her ability to heal had saved her from certain death more than once before. But it looks like that just won't happen this time – Soldier Boy's power shuts down the other supe' abilities, so at the end of the episode, Frenchy tries to take Kimiko's body to the hospital, hoping for a miracle that will bring her back to life. But is she really dead?

Some fans feel this way, especially given Kimiko's wish to leave her dangerous lifestyle after one final mission, which of course is considered a long-standing cliché for killing the character off.

"I don't think Kimiko is dead but as soon as I saw her making plans with Frenchie to go to Marseille after 'one last job' you just knew shit was gonna go wrong lmao," – /Fetal_Xylophone.

Others are still confident that Kimiko will survive the attack, arguing that the Russian version of Compound V might just reset her powers in time. But at what cost?

"Seeing Hughie's broken cast highlighted that the V-24 has healing powers, so one small shot could reboot her powers. Guessing Red energy is like Red Sun energy and takes their powers away – so the V24 saves her life and she gets to live without them anymore," – /GamiCross.

Fans will have to wait another week to find out Kimiko's fate: episode 5 will be released on Amazon Prime on June 17.
