A new trailer for the latest Thor adventure has been released, and among the many things shown in it, one strange Loki reference has caught the attention of fans.

Taika Waititi 's upcoming film will continue the story of Asgardian Chris Hemsworth, pitting him against the almighty Gorr (Christian Bale ) and introducing him to the Marvel's Olympians with Zeus (Russell Crowe) as their supreme leader. So, the long-awaited first looks at the aforementioned characters completely diverted fans' attention from another curious detail – Thor's huge backpiece tattoo.

The tattoo was barely noticeable in just a couple of seconds of the trailer, so it's easy to miss it on your first viewing. While held captive in the court of the Olympians, Thor was completely stripped down by Zeus, leaving the hero totally naked and still in chains. Thor's vulnerable position gave fans a glimpse of his back, covered in ink and representing Loki 's crown with R.I.P. written over it.

It seems that the mighty Asgardian is still reeling from the death of his deceived brother at the hands of Thanos, dedicating his entire back to the memory of the God of Mischief. The tattoo has never been seen before, and perhaps it will be properly revealed and explained during the events of the upcoming movie.

Fans are already joking about the tattoo, imagining Loki's reaction to it.

Others joke about Thor's nudity in the scene, citing that the tattoo is definitely not the most interesting detail to look at.

'Thor: Love and Thunder ' hits screens on July 8, 2022.
