Henry Cavill goes from Man of Steel to Man of Elastic in new Mr. Fantastic fan art.

It was recently announced that Henry Cavill will no longer be portraying Superman in the DC Cinematic Universe. Instead, the role will be taken over by a new actor for upcoming projects featuring a younger version of the character. Cavill's last appearance as Superman was in a cameo role in the film Black Adam.

Many fans are disappointed by this news and some speculate that Cavill may instead join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with some fans even suggesting he could be a good fit for the role of Mr. Fantastic.

In fact, Reddit user n_droo_yu_el even created a visual of Cavill as the leader of the Fantastic Four, and it does look pretty cool.

It seems that some fans have mixed opinions about casting Henry Cavill as Mister Fantastic (Reed Richards) in a potential Fantastic Four movie. Some fans think that Cavill looks the part from the chin up, but feel that he is too muscular and physically fit to convincingly portray the character of Reed Richards, who is traditionally depicted as being slim.

Some fans have suggested that Cavill would be better suited for a different role, such as Miracleman, which would allow him to use his physique to his advantage. Others have pointed out that Cavill is naturally a very slim and slender person, and that he only bulked up for his role as Superman in the DC Cinematic Universe. Ultimately, MCU fandom is seemingly getting tired and annoyed with fancasting Henry Cavill basically in every upcoming Marvel movie (and there are a lot of them coming in the next few years).

John Krasinski played a version of Mr. Fantastic in Doctor Strange: Into the Multiverse of Madness, but it was stated that this was only a short-term deal and the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be played by a different actor in the future.

Meanwhile, Cavill has already lined up some new projects, including starring in the Warhammer 40,000 game series and the spy action film directed by Guy Ritchie, reuniting with the acclaimed director after working together on Agents of U.N.C.L.E. several years ago.

The Fantastic Four movie, set to premiere on February 14, 2025 and directed by Matt Scheckman (WandaVision), will likely feature a new actor in the role of Reed Richards.
