So, when you have a pretty huge franchise on your hands, it'd be just dumb not to use it for all sorts of crossover events, right?

From Arrowverse to Chicago franchise, everyone's doing crossovers these days, and that's exactly what happened in NCIS universe a couple of days ago. So, here's the correct order of watching the epic 3-parter NCIS has gifted us fans with.

Stretching one storyline across three TV shows, NCIS crossover is to be watched in the following order:

  • Part one: NCIS episode
  • Part two: NCIS Hawaii episode
  • Part three: NCIS LA episode

All three episodes aired on 1/9/2023.

It's not crucially important to be familiar with all three shows, but still: if you haven't watch, for example, NCIS Hawaii or LA, these parts of the crossover can fall a little flat.

Some NCIS were pretty disappointed with crossover event, feeling like the 3-parter wasn't actually worth all the hype surrounding it prior to the premiere.

On the other hand, while some fans found the crossover episode to be a little underwhelming, it should be noted that NCIS creators had to juggle 3 casts for this particular storyline – and, of course, balancing the screentime and the lines between so many characters wasn't going to be easy or perfect. Despite such an impressive challenge for the writers, most of the NCIS fans felt like the plot transitioned well between the three episodes and all characters from different NCIS corners meshed well enough together. Moreover, some are actually saying that 3-parter was the best out of all crossover events NCIS ever done (and there were a solid number of them).

Ratings showed that despite all criticism the crossover was a huge success. NCIS kicked off the 3-parter with 7.7 million total viewers (its largest audience since Oct. 2021) and a 0.5 demo rating. The Hawaii episode retained 7.2 million viewers (a Monday high for the series) and a 0.5, followed by the Los Angeles episode’s 6.7 mil (best audience since April 2020) and 0.5.
