Christmas is fast approaching and, for all the feasting, gifting, and partying it brings, one of the highlights of the season is that we get to see some great TV and indulge ourselves with movies we don't watch at any other time of year.

Once you've opened your presents, been for a walk, and eaten your own bodyweight in festive food, there is nothing better than chilling out with the family to watch a Christmas movie.

They're also great for keeping the kids entertained as they build up to the big day – especially when it's Christmas Eve and you still have so much to do.

And let's be honest, as parents we all love to sit back on a Sunday afternoon during Advent when the decorations are up and the lights are on and take in a Christmas movie to start getting us in the festive mood.

Lindsay Lohan stars as a newly engaged wealthy hotel heiress who gets injured while skiing in the run-up to Christmas. Suffering from a complete loss of memory, she ends up being cared for by a hardworking lodge owner and his precocious daughter.

Freddie Prinze Jr, Aimee Garcia, and Grace Dumdaw star in a Christmas movie that sees pop star Angelina suffering from career burnout. She decides to grant one young fan their wish and escapes to a small town where she rediscovers her spark and might even find herself falling in love.

Christmas on Mistletoe Farm (November 23)

From the director of Nativity, this movie sees a widowed father (Scott Garnham) inherit a farm at Christmas. The story follows him and his kids as they adapt to village life during the festive season. And while their dad struggles, his kids plan on sticking around forever. Also stars Scott Paige, Ashley Jensen, and Celia Imrie.

The Noel Diary (November 24)

Jacob Turner (Justin Hartley), a best-selling author, plans to spend Christmas settling the estate of his estranged mother. But when he finds a diary that contains secrets of his past – and that of the young Rachel (Barrett Doss) who appears to be on her own journey of discovery, the two work together to uncover the past and their future.

Action Pack Saves Christmas (November 28)

Not exactly a movie, this 27-minute special sees the Action Pack work with Santa in an effort to stop Teddy von Taker stealing the Christmas cheer from Hope Springs. Maybe it won't be the biggest Netflix Christmas movie of all time, but it's something festive that preschoolers can get into. Stars Oscar Daniel Reyez, Nevin Kar, Julieta Cortez and Sydney Thomas.

Christmas Full of Grace (November 30)

A Brazilian Christmas rom-com. After catching his partner cheating on him, Carlinhos hooks up with the vivacious Graça, who pretends to be his new girlfriend just to help him save face when he sees his family.

And this is going to be one crazy Christmas dinner that just keeps on getting crazier.

Scrooge: A Christmas Carol (December 2)

Another re-telling of the classic Charles Dickens novel that sees old miser Ebenezer Scrooge examine his life choices with more than a little help from ghosts that visit him. This animated version of the story is described by Netflix as a "supernatural, time-travelling, musical" version of the Christmas classic.

The Boss Baby: Christmas Bonus (December 6)

Another slightly shorter but nonetheless Christmassy offering. George Lopez guest-stars as the voice of Santa as the Boss Baby inadvertently trades places with one of Santa's elves and finds himself stranded at the North Pole on Christmas Eve.
