How I Met Your Father Might Make The Same Huge Mistake As HIMYM
The How I Met Your Mother's finale caused outrage among fans, to say the least. Now audiences are wondering if the writers of How I Met Your Father would dare to step on the same rake.
For nine seasons, fans have been waiting to meet Ted's wife and wondering who it could be. No one expected it to turn out that Tracy had been dead for six years.
For the fans who have been agonizing over the mystery and waiting for a family reunion for years, this was a blow to the heart. And an abyss of outrage opened up on the Internet.
"It was so fulfilling seeing Tracy, how he found the 1! But then she dies so suddenly, I wanted an ending where he finishes the story and Tracy comes in saying like omg you made them hear the whole story? Why didn't u just skip to the end...Or something like that," Reddit user Numerous_Twist_1558 commented.
The dissatisfaction of fans was so strong that the show's creators eventually released an alternate ending in which Tracy is alive. Which of these two endings is considered canon is still a matter of debate.
One of the Reddit users suggested that the main character of the sequel, Sophie, could repeat the Tracy's fate.
The argument is the very fact that Sophie began to tell her son about her father, remembering her youth and making sure that her story would not be forgotten.
Fans got divided on this issue. Some people think it would be a good plot twist to justify the existence of the story itself.
"I personally don't want the show to go this dark but I do feel with a balance of comedy and drama it could be a good twist to why the story is being told," Reddit user bharatchipkar6 said.
Others believe that the creators are unlikely to repeat the same plot twist that was in the original series, and the murder of another female heroine will definitely raise questions among viewers.
"They are not going to kill the Mother at the end of their show. They did it in HIMYM and in This Is Us. They're not going to do it again," Reddit user apatheticsahm shared his opinion.
While we still don't know how Sophie's story will end, we can say for sure that the Father is still alive, as Kim Cattrall's character speaks of him in the present tense.
