Episode 5 of Season 2 revealed the origins of one of the show's characters, leading fans to believe that he might be a variant of the Allfather.

Summary:

  • Since Odin's death in Thor: Ragnarok, fans have believed that he would never appear in the story again
  • The introduction of the multiverse paved the way for him to make a comeback without Anthony Hopkins reprising the role
  • Some fans believe that episode 5 of season 2 hinted that one of the show's main characters might be a variant of Odin

The Loki television series is arguably the most important project in the MCU 's television branch, as its story affects the course of the cinematic universe, rewriting past events and establishing future ones.

The show's second season, currently nearing its finale, continues to pave the way for the next major threat that the heroes must defeat, Kang the Conqueror, while making Loki one of the most influential characters in the cinematic universe.

With such high stakes, the plot gets quite convoluted, with many unexpected twists and turns, providing plenty of material for fan theories and speculation.

Was Odin Hiding In Plain Sight?

One of these theories, which seems rather bizarre at first, suggests that one of the characters who has been present since the debut episode of the first season of the series, Mobius M. Mobius, portrayed by Owen Wilson, is actually a multiversal variant of Odin himself.

The Allfather debuted in the first Thor movie in 2011, portrayed by Anthony Hopkins, who reprised the role several times until the character's death in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok.

As Loki's adoptive father, he played a crucial role in his life, but after Ragnarok, few fans expected Hopkins to reprise the role ever again.

But the multiverse, with its many variations of different characters, presented a great opportunity for Odin to reappear in the story.

Loki Has Been Dropping Subtle Hints

Episode 5 of season 2 showed us Mobius' life before he was "employed" by the TVA against his will, with him working a normal job at a water sports shop and having two sons, Sean and Kevin.

Since one of them likes to play dangerous games, breaks his toys and rides a red bicycle, while the other rides a green one, some fans believe that they are meant to represent Thor and Loki, which makes Mobius a representation of Odin.

This claim is made more plausible by the fact that he acts as a supportive father figure to Loki, especially during the first season of the show.

While this theory sounds rather far-fetched, perhaps the explanation for such coincidences is that Mobius is not Odin in a literal sense, but rather a metaphorical substitute, for unlike the cold-blooded Norse god, he was everything to Loki that Odin was not.

The final episode of Loki season 2 will be released on November 9, 2023.

Do you think Mobius is a literal or metaphorical representation of Odin?
