After Katherine Waterston's Tina didn't appear in the trailer for 'Fantastic Beasts 3', many fans couldn't figure out if she would appear in the movie at all. Now, finally, we can answer that question.
Major spoilers ahead!
Tina was a fan favorite in the first chapter of the spin-off franchise, but with third installment straying farther east from Tina's new job as the head of American Auror office, will she appear at all? The answer is, she will, but very briefly.
Throughout most of the 'Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore', Tina is only seen as a moving picture in Newt's (Eddie Redmayne) briefcase, and she appears in the flesh in the very last scene of the film – Newt bumps into her at her sister's wedding. And that's it.
The reason she has so little screen time is not revealed, but the film's difficult production, repeatedly postponed because of the Covid pandemic, must have destroyed the American actress' opportunity to get her scenes done.
One fan theory is that Waterston's absence from the film was actually J.K. Rowling's idea – Waterston was strongly critical of the writer's controversial remarks about the transgender community, which may have led to Rowling's decision to get back at Waterston by reducing her role in the upcoming film.
Of course, this is just a theory without solid evidence, but people on Twitter are already condemning the creator of 'Harry Potter'. Again.
