The one time when fans hope that rumor is actually true…

Margot Robbie 's name is all over the news, and not just because of the new Barbie movie.

Before becoming a dream girl, the actress gave an impressive performance as Harley Quinn of the DC Universe.

So it's understandable that any rumor that combines the words Quinn and Robbie has a huge impact on fans, and sometimes even gets out of hand.

And that's exactly what happened recently.

In January, James Gunn, together with another co-CEO of DC Studios, Peter Safran, spilled some tea about the first projects of the new DC Universe.

While talking about it, Gunn mentioned that there are already several projects in different phases of production that were not included in the above mentioned list.

So what the fans have come to understand is that there are at least two lists of the newest DC projects... and for sure there is hope that at least one of them will be about the beloved Harley Quinn.

And so the speculation began.

Twitter exploded with various fan theories about the new movie. Some fans even gave the exact details of it, as if it was something already known and established at the highest level.

"It's a prequel Harley Quinn show called #Harleen, sold as "the story of how her need to save the Joker led to her mind being shattered. Harley Dent/Two-Face also plays a role. My understanding is Margot Robbie is returning but it's a different world to Suicide Squad/BOP," Twitter user DivinitySeeker said.

Another user addressed all that to Gunn with the question "Is there any truth in this?" and the answer arrived quickly — albeit a disappointing one.

Gunn shortly answered "There is not".

Fans were devastated to hear this, but not for long. After all,if not in her own prequel series, where else could they see Harley Quinn in the announced projects in the DC Universe?..

Harley Quinn would probably do well with a role in the forthcoming HBO Max series Waller.

While Robbie has only appeared as Harley Quinn on DC's movie side, the character would certainly feel comfortable in Amanda Waller's Suicide Squad spin-off series.

Meanwhile, if one has a Harley Quinn-shaped hole in one's heart, it would make sense to wait until Todd Phillips' Joker 2 hits the screens in October 2024.
