Though it’s not the one you probably thought about, so no tears are involved here.

An author to many cult classic movies, James Cameron is often associated by many with a 1997 teary disaster movie Titanic starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, but the best sci-fi action film from more than 40 years ago also belongs to the director’s cinematic legacy.

Released in 1984, the flick came as an introduction to a story that later on spawned a bunch of sequels, also turning it into an epic franchise that later on expanded to video games and all sorts of merchandise.

The film in question has obviously remained a fan-favorite over the years, and, now that it’s arrived on a free streaming service’s platform, many might consider revisiting the beloved movie.

You Can Now Watch The Terminator For Free

Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Terminator is the long-standing franchise’s first movie that recently arrived on Tubi and is now available for free streaming.

The movie’s premise is based on Cameron’s fever dream that he had a couple of years prior to The Terminator’s release and follows a cyborg assassin known as a Terminator sent back in time to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor.

Since the latter’s yet unborn son is destined to lead the movement that one day will save humanity from an attack by a hostile artificial intelligence called Skynet, the other side sends soldier Kyle Reese to protect Sarah.

With Terminator following them in a fierce chase, Sarah and Kyle need to find a way to escape the most certain death from the cyborg’s hands.

The Terminator Is Still a Certified Hit with 100% RT Score

More than 40 years after its theatrical release, The Terminator remains one of the pure gems of the franchise that has seen some pretty doubtful sequels over the years, still holding a perfect score of 100% from critics and a bit less than perfect rating of 89% from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes.

In fact, the franchise is still kept so close to Cameron’s heart that he isn’t planning to abandon it anytime soon. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last year, the director revealed that he was working on a secret Terminator project, suggesting that he’s willing to get back to the story after The Terminator’s several sequels were helmed by other filmmakers.

Despite the latter adapting Cameron’s plot line as a work of their own, the director actually saw a potential in his colleagues’ vision. “Like with The Sarah Connor Chronicles, they occasionally touched on things I had been playing with completely independently. So there’s some curiosity there. It’s not a burning curiosity, but, obviously, it’d be nice to see it succeed”, he added, teasing a potential new twist in the franchise.
