The show became one of Netflix’s major hits back in 2024, but was scrapped for no reason. Well, now it’s back.

It’s a tough time for modern ambitious TV shows to live in as the abrupt cancellation might await somewhere very close, though a few series were lucky enough to be saved from such destiny.

The new norm of scrapping a visually successful show at some point made the Jeff Goldblum-led mythological dark comedy series Kaos fall victim to it too; released on Netflix in August of 2024, the show had no reasons to get cancelled whatsoever, though it received a pretty disheartening update just two months later.

However, Kaos might have just become a rare finding among modern shows that, unlike this one, didn’t receive a second chance after all.

Kaos Gets a Renewal for Season 2 Months After Cancellation

Scrapping a popular series every so often might not be a big deal to Netflix, though this time a major revelation forced the streamer to take its words back. Four months after its official cancellation, Kaos is back on track in the list of Netflix’s upcoming projects since it’s now greenlit for a second season.

The streamer’s sudden move towards undoing its previous decision might be linked to the show’s stunning success on the platform as, according to What We Watched, Kaos was holding a controversial status of Netflix’s most-watched cancelled series in the second half of 2024, reaching 20.3 million views throughout six months.

What’s even more surprising, Kaos’ hit status wasn’t something that took weeks or even months to be proved: according to the data collected by Forbes, the show kicked it off pretty well with 3.4 million views garnered in the first couple of days since the release, with an addition of almost 6 million viewers by the end of its first week on Netflix.

Kaos Creator Had Ideas for Season 2 Before the Show Got Scrapped by Netflix

Ahead of the show’s season 1 premiere last year, Kaos’ creator Charlie Covell got candid about his own vision of the series’ future, revealing that he had high hopes for more seasons for Kaos.

He also stated that the original idea was to expand the show to 3 seasons, but he wouldn’t like to get this limited before it was decided whether the series would be able to continue further.

Now that the second season is officially in the works, Covell can finally get back to what he had in mind before as, according to him, there were already some ideas for a second instalment before the first one premiered.
