House of The Dragon hair department, take a note.

Some of the most popular sitcoms out there rely on the visuals just as much as they rely on the quality of writing and the humor. From camerawork to hair, makeup and the clothes that characters are wearing, every little detail matters for creating a full picture. Office was not an exception. In fact, the visuals were a huge part of the series’ success.

Though the unique part about the series came with the fact that it was written and filmed in a manner of documentary of a life of one single office, the appearances weighed in too. John Krasinski ’s Jim, for example, wouldn’t be recognized without his long and often messy cut that made him look particularly un-cool.

Turns out, the cut was so important to the team behind the show, that once the actor had to cut his hair for the part in Leatherheads, he was made to wear a wig for a whole season. Jenna Fischer revealed this fun fact in an episode of Office Ladies podcast.

The reasoning behind the hair being so important for the show was short, but very hard to argue with: “It had to be”.

The season that the actress was talking about was season 3 of the show. Looking back at the episodes, it’s pretty hard to tell the difference between John Krasinski’s real hair and the wig that was created by the hair department for him. Everything, from length to the way hair curls at the ends perfectly resembles the actor’s original cut.

The big reveal comes only during season 3 finale, when Jim gets a haircut for an interview. That is the time Krasinski was able to appear with the hair length he had beneath the wig all this time, and, to be completely honest, the actor suits it just as much. A little too much for Jim’s silly character, even.

If you want to freshen up the image of Jim in your memory, you can stream your favorite Office episodes on Netflix, Peacock TV or MAX.
