Jon Hamm Is Eager To Join The MCU As a Villain
The actor addressed rumors that he would portray Mister Sinister, but also mentioned another Marvel villain he would like to play.
- Jon Hamm has been rumored for some time to play the villain Mister Sinister in the MCU
- A longtime Marvel fan, the actor is eager to join the franchise, but doesn't mind playing a Fantastic Four villain
- Given several updates the movie has received recently, his dream might just come true, sooner or later
Over the course of nearly two decades, the MCU has featured an extremely wide range of actors and actresses portraying various comic book characters.
Some of them have been able to take their careers to the next level thanks to playing superheroes, like Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Pratt, while others were already world-famous stars when they joined Marvel movies, like Anthony Hopkins or Kurt Russell.
With each passing year, the list of MCU actors continues to grow, with new stars rising to fame and more familiar faces appearing in various roles, some of whom have always dreamed of one day portraying their favorite Marvel character.
Jon Hamm’s Comments on Mister Sinister Rumors
It seems that Jon Hamm, known for his many big screen and television appearances, including starring in shows like Good Omens and Mad Men, is a Marvel fan himself, which he revealed in a recent interview with Screen Rant.
While discussing his latest appearance in the fifth season of the TV series Fargo, the first two episodes of which premiered last week, the actor addressed rumors that he will be portraying the supervillain Mister Sinister in the MCU.
Given the character's close ties to the X-Men and the fact that the mutants are now just a few steps away from finally being introduced into the franchise, with cameos of them appearing in 2022's Doctor Strange sequel and, most recently, The Marvels, he was asked if we will see him portray the character anytime soon.
Hamm admitted that he, like the fans, remains in the dark as to whether he will appear as the villain in the franchise, as such decisions are made far beyond his level of involvement.
However, he did mention that he would love to portray Mister Sinister, as he is a fan of Marvel Comics himself and is familiar with many comic book stories that have yet to be adapted for the big screen.
The actor hopes to be involved in the future of the franchise in one way or another, because even if he won't be appearing in the X-Men movies, he's more than willing to portray another iconic Marvel villain, Doctor Doom, who often opposes the Fantastic Four.
Fantastic Four's MCU Debut Got Some Big Updates Recently
This comment is particularly interesting as there have been some interesting updates regarding the superhero team recently, as Deadline reported that Pedro Pascal is currently in talks to portray Reed Richards in the upcoming film.
While there is no official confirmation yet, it was mentioned that the negotiations are going in the right direction and have a pretty good chance of a successful outcome.
Another rumor, coming from The Insneider, suggests that Javier Bardem is one of the main candidates to portray the supervillain Galactus in the same movie, although this news hasn't been confirmed yet either.
With all of this in mind, it's within the realm of possibility that Jon Hamm may get his wish at some point in the future, because even if Doctor Doom doesn't appear in Fantastic Four's MCU debut, he's sure to clash with the superhero team later on.
Hopefully, we will get the definitive answer sooner or later, as for now, the X-Men are expected to be fully introduced to the franchise in the upcoming Deadpool 3, which is scheduled for July 26, 2024, while the Fantastic Four movie is expected to be released on May 2, 2025.
