The movie hit theatres worldwide less than a month ago.
2025 has kicked it off with several major theatrical releases, but things aren’t looking that good for one of them anymore.
A horror movie Wolf Man starring Inventing Anna’s actress Julia Garner came as a promising reboot for the horror franchise of the same name, though now, with almost three weeks in theatres, the flick has got an upsetting update which many potential viewers will still consider good news.
You Can Now Watch Wolf Man at Home
After a not so good theatrical run of almost three weeks, the movie suddenly landed on Prime Video and other digital platforms.
Based on a 1941 gothic horror of the same name, Wolf Man follows Christopher Abbott’s Blake who, after his father suddenly disappears and is considered dead, inherits his childhood home in rural Oregon.
Convinced that a short family getaway will save his marriage that started cracking, Blake talks his wife Charlotte into staying away from the big city for some time and taking their young daughter Ginger to the countryside.
On the way to the house the family is attacked by a mysterious creature and thus has to go into hiding in the house, but soon Blake’s behaviour changes, turning him into someone unrecognisable. It’s then when Charlotte has to decide whether it will be safer for her and Ginger to stay inside or rather meet with the creature that started it all.
Wolf Man Had a Promising Start, but Ended Up Being a Flop
Upon its release in theatres, the movie secured several favorable reviews praising the new version’s approach to the story and the leads’ performances, but then something went entirely wrong.
Though Wolf Man is still playing, it’s very unlikely to find some more success since the film currently earned only $32 million, which is a frustrating result for a flick with a $25 million budget.
Responses from critics and viewers aren’t very encouraging either, with the movie so far holding average scores of 51% and 57% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes. Things still might change before Wolf Man leaves the theatres, yet, considering its pretty early streaming release, there’s no sign of positive shifts so far.
