Mandalorian Season 3: A Star Wars Rebels Crossover Event in the Making?
New cameos in The Mandalorian Season 3 are a given. By now fans are already speculating about them. In particular, it is highly likely that Season 3 will include some cameos from the Rebels animated series.
Yes, details on The Mandalorian Season 3's plot still remain largely unknown. Yet per the official Writers Guild of America info, The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau writes for every episode of Season 3, with Noah Kloor contributing to Episode 3 and Dave Filoni co-writing Episodes 4 and 7.
Given Disney 's love of cameos and crossovers, this serves as a reasonably sure indication that some characters from Filoni's animated shows would appear in those episodes.
As to which characters would appear, we can only speculate on that, as neither Lucasfilm nor Disney have confirmed anything about new or recurring appearances of characters from the larger Star Wars universe in this live-action Disney+ series.
The most likely candidates are Ahsoka Tano who originated in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Sabine Wren from Rebels.
Ahsoka, of course, has already appeared in The Mandalorian, having been a key plot point in Season 2. Sabine is yet to cross into the realm of live-action Star Wars. According to Lucasfilm, she will appear in the Ahsoka series and will be portrayed by Natasha Liu Bordizzo.
From there, there is no big jump to a cameo appearance in The Mandalorian, particularly given that Sabine is a mandalorian herself. But again we should stress, that nothing has been definitely confirmed so far. Everyone is remaining appropriately tight-lipped about the contents of Season 3, so we only have the usual promises of big things ahead. The Mandalorian's star Pedro Pascal, for example has noted that Season 3 of the hit show will include surprises of the same tier as Grogu or Luke Skywalker:
"There's so much that you're going to see," he teased. "There are more secrets to keep"
Beyond teasing and promises of a "definitely epic" Season 3, he revealed nothing specific, and neither did the rest of the cast and the crew. So, for now we can only wait for Season 3's release the next year and speculate.
