He really knew what his character was capable of.

Summary:

  • Lisa Cash gets candid about her time in Friends.
  • Matthew Perry refused to take part in a storyline where his character had an affair.
  • The end of the show could have been totally different if Perry didn’t remove the story from the script.

Friends is an iconic show that skyrocketed many careers, including late Matthew Perry’s. Chandler Bing became the defining role for the actor and many fans just fell in love with his personality at the time. But the recent update about one canceled storyline in the show made us appreciate him even more.

In the interview with TMZ one of the guest stars of the show Lisa Cash mentioned a very controversial plot twist that was going to be included in the series.

Remember the first part of the episode called The One In Vegas, when the gang was on their way to Las Vegas to cheer up Joey. Well, Cash was featured as a flight attendant there, but her role initially was much bigger to the overall narrative as she should have ended up as Chandler’s one night stand.

The story was that Chandler and Monica would have a huge fight, and then Cash would come to his room delivering food and the two of them would have ended up having sex. The actress said that the story made it all the way to rehearsals, but then Matthew Perry stepped up and forced the writers to remove it from the script.

The actor said that he didn't want to do that to Monica and Chandler's relationship and that the fans would never forgive his character for hurting Monica so much. And we can't stress enough how right he was, because if Chandler had repeated Ross' story, it would have been a total failure in the show's portrayal of men.

If Chandler ended up having an affair, it would definitely change the course of the show and the fans would never get one of the most iconic TV couples ever created. We are pretty sure that Monica would not have been able to forgive Chandler and knowing how good of a person Chandler actually is, he would probably end up depressed for months.

The worst thing that could have happened is that the gang would have fallen apart completely. So it's not really understandable what the writers were thinking when they suggested that storyline in the first place.
