Eric Kripke teases The Boys' future.

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has made what many fans believe is a casual announcement of season five of his Amazon dark superhero show.

Kripke took to Twitter to reveal that he is currently in Toronto, Canada, shooting the fourth season finale. He also added that it will not be the end of the entire series, teasing that "there will be more" of The Boys to come.

Kripke, who teased the fourth season premiere "at some point in the future in our recognizable reality," never mentioned whether Amazon has actually greenlit another season of The Boys.

However, fans are already celebrating the apparent renewal teaser, even though Kripke's statement was vague enough to allow some people to believe that there will be several more seasons of the main show, and others to speculate that there will be more spinoffs. In particular, people are looking forward to the return of Jensen Ackles ' Soldier Boy, whether in the main show or in his own spin-off (which has not yet been confirmed).

However, many people note that The Boys should know when to quit, adding that season 5 would be the perfect time to go out with a bang. Few people want to see the Amazon hit turn into a drawn-out story made purely for the sake of money. If season 5 is even more successful than its predecessors, there are always spinoffs to rely on, fans note.

The season four finale is called Assassination Run, written by Jessica Chou and David Reed. The title has already raised concerns in the fandom about what to expect from the upcoming season, as chapter three left Butcher with a year to live due to his overuse of Compound V.

While season four will most likely pick up where season three left off, plot details are being kept under wraps. However, we do know that Kripke has signed Jeffrey Dean Morgan to the project, with many fans believing that he will portray Tek Knight — The Boys' own satirical version of Iron Man and Batman.
