Nothing better than a legend’s support.

  • Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a Disney Plus television series based on the novel of the same name by Rick Riordan.

  • Lerman shared a message of support for the cast of the current show.

It's hard to stay positive about reboots and remakes of every popular story and franchise you once knew and loved.

While they certainly deserve to reach more people, there is a sense of nostalgia that often keeps older audiences from appreciating the latest installments. People are afraid to see the images of the characters that they have lived with for years changed to a degree when they become unrecognizable.

However, the more open-minded you are when approaching another reboot, the better. Especially when the project finally gets the blessing of those who were intimately involved in the production of the original.

Such is the case with the new Disney Plus TV show Percy Jackson and the Olympians, an adaptation of Rick Riordan's novel franchise of the same name. A full decade after the last movie starring Logan Lerman hit the big screen, Percy Jackson returns with a brand new face and 8 episodes of adventure.

As much as many fans were hoping to see Lerman take over the role himself, it wasn’t the case. After all, the 31-year-old actor may not be the best choice when it comes to portraying a boy, who is supposed to be 12 years old in the first novel.

While the franchise is going to move forward with a more age-appropriate choice, Lerman’s legacy will forever hold a special place in the hearts of many long-time fans of the story. What’s even better, the support is very much mutual.

The actor shared his positive message to the entire cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians in general and Walker Scobell, who is taking over the role, in particular, during the taping of the Happy Sad Confused podcast:

“The show looks amazing. I can’t wait to see you all crush it in your roles. You’re making a lot of people happy bringing these characters to life.<...> I think you have a hit show on your hands,” Lerman said.

There is not much more that the team behind the upcoming Percy Jackson series could ask for at the moment. Disney's production has already gained a lot of fans during the promotional phase, so now fans of the iconic 00s film franchise are more than ready to welcome a new take on the beloved story.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is going to premiere its first season on Disney Plus on December 20, 2023.
