IFC films just released the trailer for its indie thriller, and it looks like there will be a new inductee into the Horror Hall of Fame this year.

'Resurrection', starring Rebecca Hall and Tim Roth, has barely released its first trailer, but reviews are already circulating the media, describing this horror film as one of the most extreme made in the last couple of years. The story of woman's encounter with a mysterious man from her shady past certainly sounds rather trite, but early reviews promise an original film filled with suspense, violence and great performances from everyone involved.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and fans who were able to see it then did not hesitate to call 'Resurrection' one of the most disturbing they had ever seen, comparing it to Andrzej Żuławski's seminal masterpiece 'Possession'.

"Saw this back at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. Boy, it's pretty weird. It's DEFINITELY not for everyone as this will either leave you disturbed or frustrated. But if you wanna give it a shot, I still recommend it. It's definitely something new and original that hasn't been done before if I am not wrong. Rebecca Hall is one of the most underrated actresses and she sells in this film." – /peter095837.

The original script, written by Andrew Semans, who also directs the picture, was included in 2019 Black List, a Hollywood survey of the most popular unproduced screenplays by aspiring screenwriters, so the hype surrounding 'Resurrection' definitely has something to build on.

"Haven't seen it but read the screenplay a while ago and yes the ending in particular is quite...extreme. The trailer actually shows quite a lot but not in any sort of context that would spoil anything." – /CovetedEggBar.

However, despite all the kind words spoken on Reddit, some avid moviegoers are still not convinced that the film is as good as others say it is.

"All these comments about how EXTREME this movie is just scream "bad marketing attempt" to me, especially since not one of the people in this thread saying how EXTREME it is is willing to spoil it with a spoiler tag." – /vanilla_disco.

It should be noted that the person questioning Reddit fans' eventually got what they wanted: some of those who've already seen Resurrection' shared the most extreme thing in the movie – and yes, it actually is as extreme as everyone says.

'Resurrection' is scheduled to hit theaters on July 29, 2022.
