As HBO develops the next 'Game of Thrones' series, fans are expecting to see some familiar faces, with Jon Snow's sidekick Samwell Tarly at the top of everyone's list.
A lovable aristocrat more inclined to books and science than to weapons and military glory, Samwell quickly became one of the most beloved characters on the HBO series, and his storyline continued to excite viewers throughout the series. Samwell managed to survive the events of the last season unscathed and even become the new Grand Maester. This puts him in a position to return to the Seven Kingdoms again by appearing in Jon Snow's solo project in a cameo or supporting role. But can it really happen?
In a conversation with Digital Spy, John Bradley detailed his position on the possibility of a return to the world of George RR Martin, saying that the series is too early in the stages of development to confirm or deny anything.
"I think we're all enjoying having a bit of a break from that and exploring new areas. But in the future, who knows? I haven't spoken to anybody about the potential Jon Snow prequel, but if somebody wants to send a script my way, I'd be interested to read it," Bradley said.
Some fans tend to believe that HBO doesn't want to hire other actors than Kit Harrington at all, citing Bradley's comments about "Jon Snow show will likely not have another characters from the show" as proof.
Others are somewhat more optimistic, arguing that the comments given by the GoT actors could be used by HBO as a test of audience's level of interest.
"The studio is putting out feelers on who the audience might want to see in the potential spin-off. Put out a bunch of articles like this and see what people say in the comments of social media about it and they'll use that information to decide what to do. Even if it doesn't make sense for the story, if everyone was clamoring for more Samwell Tarly in a potential spin-off, they'd probably try to make a story where he meets up with them." – /Chef_Bojan3.
