The critically and commercially successful 2019 film 'Shazam!' will finally get a sequel this year, exclusive footage of which was shown at the ongoing CinemaCon 2022.
'Shazam!' centered on young Billy Batson (Asher Angell), who acquired a superpower of transforming into ancient deity Shazam (Zachary Levi), fighting crime and learning to accept his family in the process. The sequel will continue their story with a tongue-in-cheek screenplay, introducing Shazam's biggest threat yet – Daughters of Atlas.
According to Screen Rant, 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' exclusive footage proved that the upcoming film won't lose even a tiny bit of its charisma, already showing Shazam's date with Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and him quoting family speech from 'Fast and Furious' to Helen Mirren's villain. It looks like the pop-culture bonanza from the first film will be successfully carried over to the sequel, with Mirren, Lucy Liu and Rachel Zegler teased as the eponymous Daughters of Atlas.
Fans are already confident in the sequel's quality, claiming that it can easily become the best DCEU film yet.
Others are still reeling from Shazam quoting Vin Diesel.
'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' will arrive on December 16, 2022.
