Silo Season 3 Will Address the Most Annoying Trend of Modern TV
Fans will finally stop testing their devices’ battery limits.
Though Apple TV ’s Silo might be easily considered one of the most successful running shows, it doesn’t save the series from some harsh criticism which has nothing to do with SIlo’s plot or characters whatsoever.
Just like many other series before, Silo has been under attack for, well, just being too dark — there are hundreds of fans out there complaining about not being able to decipher what’s going on in particular scenes.
On Reddit, fans have been complaining that even the best TVs with high resolution could not help with the issue.
“I got my TV set up and couldn’t see a thing in that first scene of ep 1. It was so dark I couldn’t see anything other than the flame on the torch the kid was carrying. It took me about two weeks to figure out the balance of settings to be able to watch the show and see it clearly. I had to create an entire picture settings profile just to watch this show. That profile looks horrible and insanely bright when watching anything else,” Redditor user_15427 said.
Luckily, Silo’s viewers have been vocal enough to be heard by the show’s creator Graham Yost, who has recently given a promising update about the matter.
Silo Season 3 Will Have More Brightly Lit Sequences
Whether it’s a lucky coincidence or the creators’ intention to fix the problem, Silo’s upcoming third instalment will allegedly avoid scenes that are too dark — at least that’s what Yost reassures the upset fans with.
Speaking with TVLine recently, the showrunner addressed the issue, saying that “I’m not going to defend it. It’s just the way it plays” meaning that darker scenes actually make sense in shows like Silo, since everything in there happens underground.
However, there are some big changes coming in the series’ way as Yost revealed that the next season’s episodes will feature new “outside” locations — “we will be outdoors, and we will be in the world, and there will be sunshine.”
Silo Isn’t the Only Modern TV Show With a Lighting Problem
It’s fair to say that Silo isn’t the first and most likely isn’t the last show to deal with such a problem. In this case Game of Thrones ’ episode titled The Long Night immediately pops up in mind. Back then, many of the show’s fans also faced the same issue while trying to catch up with the Battle of Winterfell.
Game of Thrones’ successor House of the Dragon also fell victim to this mistake — just like many other big hits, including ones from Euphoria, Stranger Things or American Horror Story. It’s safe to say that abandoning the modern trend of dark TV won’t harm Silo — looks like fans would love to be able to see what’s actually going on in their favorite show.
