The franchise will continue after the eleventh film, but fans want it to go in new directions.

Fast X, the tenth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, was recently released in theaters and is the first of a two-part finale for the main series.

While the critical reviews for the film are rather average, this has never been a problem for the franchise, which continues to be a box office success and can best be described as "dumb fun."

Of course, even though the main series is coming to a conclusion, it doesn't mean that such a successful franchise is ending, which was recently confirmed by Vin Diesel himself, who is the star and producer of the Fast & Furious movies.

He revealed that several spin-off films are already in the works, including a female-led film that he "started developing [...] in 2017 with other spin-offs," and they will be released as soon as the main story ends.

So far, the franchise has only one spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw, which was released in 2019 and revolved around Luke Hobbs, portrayed by Dwayne Johnson ( who just returned to the franchise in a post-credits scene of Fast X), and Deckard Shaw, played by Jason Statham.

Fans don't seem to mind the franchise continuing with various subplots after the main story ends, but they point out that the movies would have to go in new directions to stay afloat.

The most popular choice is to go into space, which was briefly visited in the ninth film, but apparently that wasn't enough for fans. S

ome even joke that the last "main" movie should end with Dom (Vin Diesel) getting lost in space, so that it ties in with Pitch Black (2000), the first part of the Riddick movies, which also stars Diesel.

Others want to see a spin-off that would be a "spiritual successor" to Tokyo Drift (2006), the third film in the franchise.

The final installment of the franchise will be released in 2025, although the exact date has not yet been announced.
