For some it might seem like not a really big deal, but other fans of the show have been vocal about something suspicious happening right after Kang Sae-byeok’s death back in Season 1.
This has escaped most of the viewers’ attention, yet the Squid Game announcer never mentions Sae-byeok’s death, unlike the mysterious female voice did with all the other deceased contestants.
Whether it was a production slip or the writers’ deliberate choice, the character’s death thus remains unconfirmed officially, which gives the series’ fans some solid hope that Sae-byeok might be back to the screen at some point.
Who Kang Sae-byeok Was in Season 1 and Why Her Return is Very Unlikely
Kang Sae-byeok was one of the fans’ favorites back in the first season where she ended up making it through all the games until only 3 contestants were left. She was then severely injured and eventually killed by Sang-woo, another participant striving for a multimillion-worthy prize.
Considering how bad it all looked back then, it’s hard to imagine that Sae-byeok would survive those injuries anyway. Additionally, fans have been speculating about the character’s sister also being a part of the Squid Game, though it’s also doubtful given that Sae-byeok was said to only have one brother.
