Episode 6 collapsed the season's rating, and it is completely understandable why.

The third season of The Mandalorian TV series has been receiving complaints from fans since the first few episodes.

They said the story felt pointless, with the main characters just wandering from planet to planet doing all sorts of side jobs.

However, it didn't seem to affect the reviews of the season much until episode 6 dropped and changed the tune completely.

After Guns for Hire was released on April 5, it received a major backlash, even going so far as to drop the season's overall audience score on Rotten Tomatoes from the usual 90% to 50%.

The problems became apparent shortly after the beginning, with the appearance of the cringe-inducing duet of Captain Bombardier and the Duchess, portrayed by Jack Black and Lizzo.

Their goofy looks and manners brought back not-so-good memories of Jar Jar Binks and the Holiday Special. For many fans, it was a total "jumping the shark" moment.

Unfortunately, the idiocy continued with things like music in a bar for droids and a chain code engraved on the surface of nanodroids.

Then it all ends in a "if it weren't for you meddling kids" Scooby-Doo fashion, accompanied by the Duchess knighting Grogu, which was painful to watch, especially after the Andor series.

Fans also pointed out a drop in writing quality, with dialogue sounding "straight out of a mediocre procedural crime drama."

Compared to the brilliant second season, the problems only become more obvious.

"I'm not into this season as much as I'd like to be. Nothing in the series has been as exciting as Luke defeating the Dark Troopers," Reddit user Free_Hat_McCullough said.

Of course, there are people who liked the episode and the season in general, but the drop in ratings speaks for itself.

Hopefully the series will get back on track, with the latest episode returning to the main story. It also seems to establish the events of the Ahsoka TV series, with mentions of Thrawn and Gilad Pellaeon making his first appearance on screen.

The Mandalorian season 3 finale is scheduled for release on April 19, 2023.
