Stephen King Recommends This 2023 Biggest Horror Hit Now Streaming on Hulu: ‘Truly Unique’

Let's face it, the viewers are already quite fed up with movies about stereotypical aliens. It seems that stories about big-eyed gray creatures with their flying saucers and gravity beams for abducting Earthlings are already outdated, and the fear of scientific and technological progress is a thing of the past.

We are no longer afraid of science, and ghosts and demons have once again replaced robots and space invaders to scare us.

Director and screenwriter Brian Duffield refused to accept this state of affairs and made a movie about one hundred percent classic aliens. Do you think it turned out old-fashioned and not scary at all?

No, Duffield's project not only managed to modernize the typical plot, but also became one of the main horror hits of 2023.

No One Will Save You Was Praised by Horror Icons

The film, called No One Will Save You, was highly praised by both critics and masters of the genre – not only Guillermo del Toro, but also Stephen King shared his delight, and described his impressions on X:

“No One Will Save You: Brilliant, daring, involving, scary. You have to go back over 60 years, to a Twilight Zone episode called The Invaders, to find anything remotely like it. Truly unique.”

Indeed, Brian Duffield has resurrected the familiar image of classic aliens, dusted it off and made a movie that feels like an episode of The X-Files or The Twilight Zone. At the same time, the director has not copied the classics of fantastic horror – thanks to his new creation, viewers realized that aliens can still be truly frightening.

What is No One Will Save You About?

Brynn lives alone in a cozy house in the woods. Her mother recently died, and the people of the neighboring town hate her for reasons unknown. One night, someone breaks into her house – and Brynn quickly realizes that it is not a person, but an alien from outer space.

Now she has to deal with the invaders, because, as the title of the movie suggests, no one will save her.

No One Will Save You Is a Suspenseful Horror with Almost No Dialog

Brian Duffield, for whom this is only his second work as a director, takes a very bold step – he refuses dialog and words in general, preferring to show rather than tell.

Throughout the film, the main character barely utters a few words, and this approach not only suits this eerie tale, but also does not make the movie any less dynamic or exciting.

Considering the almost complete absence of dialogue and supporting characters, a great burden of responsibility falls on Kaitlyn Dever, whom you could see in Beautiful Boy and Unbelievable, and who handles her role brilliantly.

No One Will Save You proves to be an entertaining and masterful piece of the genre, reminiscent of Steven Spielberg 's Close Encounters of the Third Kind, M. Night Shyamalan's Signs, or even Alex Garland 's Annihilation.

This is a well-thought-out story about the struggle with unfriendly representatives of an alien civilization, but most of all – with yourself. Because no one will save you until you do it yourself.
