I’m excited, but wonder if the story can still surprise.

I’ve got to say, hearing Simon Pegg talk about wanting to return to the Star Trek universe really got me excited. You know that warm feeling when actors just genuinely miss their castmates? That’s exactly what Pegg’s vibe was like at the recent Star Trek convention in Las Vegas.

He wasn’t just hinting at another movie — he was really looking forward to catching up with his friends and revisiting those epic sci-fi adventures.

Pegg, famous for playing the ever-charming Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the Kelvin timeline reboot of Star Trek, shared this:

"J.J. [Abrams] has always said that there are scripts being developed and this and that. I think it's about time. It would be great to see us 10 years after the five year mission, where we are."

"If we make another Star Trek, I'll be so happy because I just want to see my friends again. I see them occasionally. They all live in Los Angeles. I saw Zoe [Saldaña] this year, which was lovely. I saw Karl [Urban] a couple of times when I was working on The Boys.

But I miss Chris [Pine] and I miss John [Cho]. We've been through a lot together. We've been through good times, bad times. And I would love to be able to hang out with those guys again."

That sense of camaraderie really shines through. It’s not just about the movies, but the friendships forged on set that keep the spark alive. And honestly, who wouldn’t want to revisit that Star Trek universe?

The reboot starting in 2009 brought a fresh, dynamic energy to the franchise, with Pegg’s Scotty stealing hearts as the witty, brilliant engineer who kept the Enterprise running against all odds.

Over three films — Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), and Star Trek Beyond (2016) — Pegg didn’t just act; he even co-wrote the third film, showing just how invested he is in the story and the crew.

His Scotty became a beloved part of the Kelvin timeline’s charm, balancing technical wizardry with humour and heart.

So, hearing Pegg’s hopeful words feels like a gentle nudge: maybe another Star Trek adventure isn’t too far off. And for me, it’s as much about reconnecting with that family on screen as it is about the stories.

Here’s hoping the scripts come through and we get to beam up Scotty and the crew once again.
