Stranger Things' Biggest Problem Might Get Even Worse

The recent Writers Guild of America strike has affected many movies and TV series, and Stranger Things is no exception.

While some shows have continued filming without writers on set, the creators of the Netflix hit, the Duffer Brothers, are not willing to take such risks as it could affect the quality of the show.

Although the script for the season is believed to be complete, the absence of the writers on set will make any changes to the script impossible, so production has been halted until the strike is over.

However, this may only exacerbate a particular problem for which the show has already been criticized by many.

The five young leads have already grown up considerably since the first season, which aired in 2016, despite the fact that, according to the show's plot, the time jumps between seasons have never been more than a year.

This was especially evident in season 4, when some viewers had trouble recognizing their favorite characters due to how much the actors had changed since the filming of season 3.

And now the situation is only going to get worse, as Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo are currently 20, Millie Bobby Brown is 19, Noah Schnapp is 18, and Caleb McLaughlin is 21.

If we assume that season 5 will be released in 2024 or even 2025, that would be an astonishing eight or nine years since the first season, and since the season will most likely be set in 1987, it would only be four years in the show's timeline.

While this problem is not as critical for adult characters for obvious reasons, viewers should be prepared to see 20-23 year old young adults playing school children.

Fans joke that this would be entirely appropriate for the era in which the show is set, as it was common in the 80s for adults to play teenagers, sometimes with hilarious results.

Others playfully assume that the final season will have a big time jump and be set in the mid-90s.

Anyway, with this latest update, the filming process that was supposed to begin this month will now be delayed until the strike is over, so of course the release date for the highly anticipated final season remains unknown.
