Sometimes actors go through more than you can imagine.

If there's one profession that's a lot harder than it looks from the outside, it's acting.

Despite being perceived as creative and relatively easy, actors seeking fame and recognition sometimes have to take the toughest roles and endure the worst treatment on set imaginable.

Ted Lasso 's star, Hannah Waddingham, who finally got the recognition she deserved for her performance as Rebecca Welton, opened up about her particularly traumatic experience on the set of HBO's Game of Thrones.

In one scene, her character, Septa Unella, is avenged by Cersei Lannister in the cruelest way possible.

The scene, which was originally intended to be a rape, was changed at the last minute by the production team to the torture of waterboarding.

And if you think the production preferred to go easy on the actress and use CGI, you would be sorely mistaken.

"Definitely other than childbirth, [it] was the worst day of my life. Lena was uncomfortable pouring liquid in my face for that long, and I was beside myself.

But in those moments, you go, 'Do you serve the piece and get on with it?' Or do you chicken out and go, 'This isn't what I signed up for,'" the actress recalled the day on Collider's Ladies Night.

Although the scene was quite horrifying to watch, viewers could never imagine that Waddingham had to go through 10 hours of this real-life torture to get it done.

While such dedication to the job is definitely admirable, the trauma left on the actress is not worth any cinematic piece.

If you want to re-watch Game of Thrones and remember all of the over-the-top scenes the show had, as well as all of the storylines behind them, all of the seasons are available to stream on Hulu, Disney Plus, and ESPN Plus.
