What a way to waste the High Republic setting. We’re almost impressed, honestly.

Disney has notoriously been violating the ever-living Force out of Star Wars since the day it bought the IP. But after years of butchering, we finally got a couple of good TV shows — and thought that maybe, they’d learned their lesson!.. Well, they didn’t, and the recently released Star Wars: The Acolyte proves it better than anything. With only three episodes released, it has already become the worst-rated SW project.

The Acolyte Had a Promising Setting

Let’s start with the most obvious bit here: The Acolyte is set in the High Republic era. This alone was enough to keep us excited for the TV show as, despite being one of the most interesting periods of Star Wars history, it hasn’t been properly explored throughout the decades. The end of the Golden Age was supposed to serve as a spectacular backdrop for the main narrative.

Then, we had the idea itself: a Jedi and her Padawan investigating a series of gruesome murders that takes them down a dark path to uncover a massive conspiracy. Add to that the ghosts of the Jedi’s past and the inevitable dawn of the High Republic, and you’ll clearly see just how amazing this TV could have been.

If you can see it, props to you: between you and the showrunners, you might just be the only one with the vision.

The Acolyte Has the Lowest Scores Ever

Despite only three episodes of The Acolyte being already released, they have been more than enough to sink the series to the bottom of the endless space void. We didn’t even know the void had a bottom, so we’re just as surprised as the next guy.

On IMDb, The Acolyte has a 3.6/10 Score against the previous biggest Star Wars flop, The Clone Wars’ 5.9/10. Over at Rotten Tomatoes, things are looking even worse: The Acolyte “boasts” a pathetic 15% Audience Score against The Clone Wars’ 19%. Just for context, critics awarded the TV show a wildly different 84%, once again showing how detached they are from the audience they write for.

This alone makes The Acolyte the lowest rated Star Wars project to date which is… Quite an achievement, considering The Clone Wars’ reputation and the fact that the new TV show has only been out for three episodes. There’s always a way to sink lower and we’re eager to see what it will be: Episode 4 premieres tomorrow.
