There are some moments in Supernatural that will always be dear to old-school fans — and The Winchesters just knows these moments.

Warning: the following article contains spoilers for The Winchesters pilot episode

Finally providing a comeback into the world of monsters and demons for Supernatural fans, The Winchesters premiered on The CW on Tuesday — and immediately overwhelmed the fandom with parallels and references.

One of them was so heart-wrenching that people felt like they were transported back in time to season 1 of Supernatural, when young Dean Winchester was lecturing his brother Sammy on how to behave in his car.

"Driver picks the music. Shotgun shuts his cakehole," Dean once said in the very first season of Supernatural back in 2005.

Now it's 2022, and we see the very same Dean Winchester in the very same car, but this time alone and in search for truth about his parents. As he concludes the narration of the first The Winchesters, he tells the viewers that he will "keep picking the music" — in what appears to be a big reference to the roots.

After hearing that line, pretty much everyone in the Twitter fandom turned to each other to say something like "I'm not crying, you are".

It seems that the pilot episode truly has Supernatural fans back at it again, recalling the road so far in order to save people and hunt things once again. The story remains quite vague, with even Jensen Ackles ' Dean admitting that people will have to brace themselves for a couple of "surprises", but the show promises to "explain everything."

It is still unclear whether Dean is alive, and when exactly in the Supernatural timeline his journey is taking place; if it is even in the Supernatural timeline and not in some kind of an alternative universe.

The Winchesters premiered on The CW on October 11, and new episodes are scheduled to arrive every Tuesday. The number of episodes in the season remains to be known.
