Did the show drop a hint about the Governor in season 2?

In the very first season of The Walking Dead, we are introduced to the Vatos gang. We can even say it was the first group our survivors had to confront. Despite the conflict, the Vatos eventually turn out to be good guys. But have you ever wondered what happened to them?

It’s always a treat for fans when a show returns some of its characters from earlier seasons. The Walking Dead did this a couple of times, but not with the Vatos.

First off, for those who might not remember, in season one, Rick and his group encountered the Vatos gang in Atlanta. Initially, they seemed like typical tough guys, but as the story unfolded, we discovered they were actually protecting a nursing home full of elderly residents.

The leader, Guillermo, was a custodian, and another member, Felipe, was a nurse. They were just trying to do right by the vulnerable folks in their care. So what happened to them?

There is a deleted scene from season two. In this scene, after the explosion at the CDC, Rick's group decides to make a pit stop at the Vatos' place, thinking it would be a safe place to stay for some period of time. But when they arrive, there's an eerie silence.

No lookouts, no signs of life. As they go further in, they discover a gruesome scene: the entire Vatos gang and the elderly residents they were protecting are as well.

Daryl notes that the victims were not overrun by walkers. Instead, they were all shot execution-style. Someone had come in, taken what they wanted, and left no survivors. The walkers that were present had only arrived after the massacre, attracted by the noise or an open gate.

The big question on everyone's mind is: who could have committed such a heinous act? There's been speculation that it could have been the Governor or another group of antagonists from the series, but there's no concrete evidence to support this.

However, the Governor is still a plausible option. Firstly, he did something like this in season 3. Secondly, we know that the Governor found Merle in Atlanta, so he could possibly do this to the Vagos on his way.

Do you think they should have included this scene in season 2?
