By revealing what he believes to be the reason behind Henry Cavill's departure, Marc Jobst inadvertently threw shade on the actor's replacement.

It seems that even though it has been almost a month since Henry Cavill 's farewell performance as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher season 3, the show's creators are still desperately trying to quell fans' anger over his replacement.

Marc Jobst, one of the series' directors, chimed in, revealing what he believes to be the reason behind Henry's departure from the role.

He praised the actor's dedication to the show, with Henry keen to do his own stunts, describing him as "an incredible athlete [...] who works out hours before and hours after [...] and who cares deeply about the work he does."

However, according to Jobst, while it has led to some "extraordinary results," such a commitment is "demanding" and "draining," so the filmmaker believes it may have influenced Cavill's decision to quit The Witcher.

Although many fans don't believe that Henry quit the series on his own and was most likely forced to leave, especially considering that he was barely a focus of the third season despite the show being literally titled The Witcher, we may never know the real reason behind it.

One thing we can all agree on, however, is that such attempts to soften the blow after the loss of the series' main star only further damage the future of The Witcher.

As some fans point out, Jobst's statement seems like a polite way of saying "the new guy (Liam Hemsworth) is inevitably going to suck," which makes the unenviable position he found himself in even worse.

No offense to Liam, but most fans are already sure that he will never be as great as Henry, and such statements praising how exceptional the latter was only prove their point.

It is a no-win situation for the show's creators, and perhaps the best tactic for them is to simply stop bringing up Cavill's departure and just wait for the fans to calm down on their own instead of trying to do damage control.

A release date for The Witcher season 4 has not yet been announced.

Are you willing to at least give Liam Hemsworth a chance as Geralt?
