In fact, fans say, it's mainly due to the show actually trying to be canon-worthy.

Amazon's Rings of Power has hardly left anyone indifferent, triggering either joy or hate among TV lovers, especially those who pose themselves as John R.R. Tolkien lovers.

While the quality of the show's visuals and production hardly causes questions, The Rings of Power is heavily scrutinized when it comes to storytelling. One of the main issues of the show, critics argue, is its pace. The Rings of Power is not something one might want to watch if one is a fan of exciting action and breath-taking twists.

Here's How Biggest LoTR Star Really Feels About Rings of Power

The show has been remarkably hasteless over its eight episodes, each of them around an hour long. However, what was a sedative for some turned out to be an indicator of respect for the source material to others.

With the showrunners openly indicating that they aim for a long TV journey, it's only natural for The Rings of Powe to take its time, it was argued. After all, Tolkien books are not known for being overly action-packed, with the author instead preferring to delve into the history of his world and explore the lore.

That's what The Rings of Power does as well, fans believe. For many people, the show's slow and somewhat tranquilling pace was exactly the thing that made The Rings of Power stand out among today's media.

"The Rings of Power is not and never has been slow. Far from it. It's been as economical as it needs to be with its storytelling. As a Tolkien fan, I'd actually appreciate more time just hanging out with folk and locations," Twitter user K_imbot said. "But it strikes a good balance for those who like the main plot to dash along at pace and those who like their gratification a little more delayed, or those who enjoy the journey as much as the destination."

In fact, a lot of people enjoy The Rings of Power precisely for the things it gets roasted on Twitter and Reddit. But, Middle-earth fans argue, this doesn't have to mean that the show is bad or that it doesn't deserve to be continued.

The Rings of Power aeason 2 is currently in the works, with shooting already underway and the writing fully complete. The premiere date will be announced later.
