And it's definitely a must-watch for all horror fans!

The film industry is full of surprises, and at times the most unexpected movies become cult classics. Now, that said, while mainstream audiences may turn away from some movies, there are those special ones that catch the attention of the greatest minds in cinema.

And sure, sometimes it can be quite questionable, but when you dig deeper, it all makes sense.

Recently, we told you about Quentin Tarantino 's fascination with the sci-fi failure that is Battlefield Earth, but today we have something that you potentially might like.

When someone like Tarantino says this movie has something to look out for, you know there must be something really special about it.

Demonoid (1981): When Ancient Curses Get Out of Hand

You may not have heard of Demonoid because it's buried deep in the horror movies of the 80s, but despite a modest 25% on Rotten Tomatoes, there's really something special about it that you might enjoy.

A married couple's search for wealth takes a sinister turn when they stumble upon something far more valuable (and dangerous) than precious metal. That something is a 300-year-old severed hand with a demonic appetite for chaos.

Alfredo Zacarías (director) drew inspiration from a conversation he had with his psychiatrist friend about split personalities.

Tarantino Claims Demonoid Is The Best in Its Nature

When Tarantino speaks about movies, we listen. And oh boy, did he speak on this one! During an episode of his Video Archives podcast with Roger Avary, he was quite enthusiastic about Demonoid, saying:

“It doesn't waste a minute. It doesn't waste a frame. It doesn't waste a scene.”

And what really seemed to impress Tarantino was the filmmaker's (and the rest of the crew, to be honest) dedication to the craft:

“The seriousness of the intention of the director and the scenario was a breath of fresh air.”

But perhaps his most striking endorsement came when he stated:

“I will actually go so far as to say I think this is the best crawling hand I've seen in any movie.”

Well, take it for what you will, but we certainly think this movie is worth a watch. It's efficient in its storytelling and it really knows what it's doing.

We won't sugarcoat it, though, it's definitely one of those break or make it movies. You will either really love it, or it'll bomb tragically.

Either way, we highly encourage you to give it a try. You can watch Demonoid on Amazon Prime right now.
