'Emily in Paris' Actor Admits Being Fired From the Show Destroyed Him: "It Was a Tragedy"

Rupert Everett had a small role in Emily in Paris Season 4, but the news that he won't be appearing in Season 5 was tough. Here's what the actor himself had to say.
Emily in Paris is perhaps the most escapist show of our time with its wild outfits, and passionate romances.
Filming the show seems as much fun as watching it, but not all of the actors enjoyed the experience.
Rupert Everett Says Being Fired from 'Emily in Paris' Was a "Tragedy"
Rupert Everett has been candid about his painful experience working on the show. In an interview with Vanity Fair, he said that being suddenly dismissed without explanation was tragic for him.
Everett appeared in the Season 4 finale as Giorgio Barbieri, an interior designer who reunites with his old friend Sylvie. It turns out, Everett will not be returning for Season 5.
Rupert Everett shared:
“They told me, ‘Next year we'll speak.’ I waited for them to call me – but ultimately, it never came, and they just fired me. Show business is always very difficult, from the beginning to the end. When they write the screenplay, they think they want you – but then things change, and they lose your character.”
The actor added:
“For me, it was a tragedy. I was in bed for two weeks because I couldn't get over it.”
In turn, a source close to the production of Emily in Paris explained that Everett was originally invited as a guest star and that his character's storyline has ended.
Camille Razat Will Also Not Return for Season 5 of 'Emily in Paris'
Everett isn't the only actor leaving the show. Camille Razat, who played Camille, has also announced her departure.
On her Instagram account, the actress wrote:
“After an incredible journey, I've made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris. It has been a truly wonderful experience, one filled with growth, creativity, and unforgettable memories.”
Razat thanked series creator Darren Star and Netflix for the opportunity to play Camille, leaving the door open for her character to possibly return.
What Will 'Emily in Paris' Season 5 Be About?
The main intrigue of the fifth season is whether or not Emily will stay in Paris or move to Rome. To dispel the speculation, Darren Star said that Emily will split her time between Rome and Paris in the new episodes and will not choose either city for now.
One of the main storylines will probably be a love triangle since two men are fighting for Emily's heart: Marcello and Gabriel, the latter of whom went to Rome after her.
The management of the Italian office will likely also play a significant role, so we can expect new characters, including Emily's new colleagues and clients.
