This Stephen King Miniseries With 83% RT Score Is Hulu’s Hidden Gem

The unfairly forgotten show is still among King’s personal favorites.
The second most adapted author in the world, Stephen King is also one of the biggest and most influential figures in modern cinema and TV industry, holding a legacy which might take a viewer quite some time to check out completely.
Most of these movies and shows derive directly from the writer’s short stories and novels, with others also serving as remakes for the earlier versions, though there’s at least one series that had Stephen King on board as a writer of the original screenplay.
Released back in 1999, the show remains in the shadows of King’s more prominent projects and is currently stored on Hulu.
Storm of the Century Is One of Stephen King’s Most Underrated Shows
With a yearly release of several movies based on his literary works, King is more of a cinema guy, which might be the reason why some highly acclaimed shows, also inspired by the author’s novels, ultimately didn’t get the audiences’ recognition that they deserved all along.
This is the case for the James Franco-led sci-fi thriller series 11.22.63 and, mostly, for a 1999 horror miniseries Storm of the Century, made with a screenplay that Stephen King wrote from scratch.
With the script later on adapted into a novel, the show became one of the most brilliant examples of King’s work as a TV writer, eventually receiving universal acclaim.
Storm of the Century stars Tim Daly as Mike Anderson, the constable of the isolated Maine island hamlet Little Tall Island, in the midst of a winter storm that, apart from severe destruction, also brings along mysterious stranger Andre Linoge.
The more time Andre passes in the town, the more Mike becomes convinced that the former is some kind of devil-turned-human that scares everyone with his vast knowledge about Little Tall’s darkest secrets.
Things, however, become even more gruesome when Andre’s influence drives some of the locals to murder and suicide.
Stephen King’s Upcoming Show Promises New Heights for the Writer’s TV History
With not so many TV series under his belt, the author is about to add one more to his collection, and it does seem like a big deal for both King and his most dedicated fans.
Also based on King’s 1986 hit supernatural horror novel It, It: Welcome to Derry is a promising new instalment for the movie franchise starring Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise the Clown.
The series, currently planned to expand for at least 3 seasons, will delve into its villain’s background story, focusing on Pennywise’s returns in 1962, 1935 and 1908 for each season respectively.
The show’s first season is now scheduled for a release sometime in 2026.
