Will Thor die in his next solo movie?

Taika Waititi pulled off two big surprises during his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First, he wowed us with Thor: Ragnarok, which lots of fans still think is the best Thor movie.

But then he hit us with surprise number two in his fourth movie for the series, and this time the surprise wasn't all that fantastic.

Taika Waititi has recently shared his ambitious ideas and plans for Thor 5. He envisions more formidable foes for Thor and emphasizes the need for challenges that push the character's limits. Waititi believes that the villains should be even more powerful than Hela from Thor: Ragnarok.

Some fans have expressed concerns, especially after how Gorr the God Butcher was shown in Thor: Love and Thunder. But what Waititi said also got fans speculating. A recent post on Reddit has sparked quite the debate.

A theory, posted by a fan, suggests that Thor might meet his end in the upcoming Thor 5. With Beta Ray Bill being hinted at multiple times, it's possible we might see a showdown between Thor and perhaps a variant of Kang.

The theory suggests that even Thor’s immense power might not be enough to save him from Kang.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Chris Hemsworth himself has mentioned wanting Thor 5 to be something unpredictable. And what's more unpredictable than the main character meeting his end in his own movie?

But, as we all know, death in the MCU isn't always permanent. There's always a chance for Thor to return, maybe even from Valhalla.

The fan also hopes we will finally see Beta Ray Bill to lend Thor a hand. For those unfamiliar, Beta Ray Bill is an alien warrior with a strong connection to Thor. In the comics, he's even proven worthy of wielding Mjölnir, Thor's hammer.

Bill's backstory is quite tragic, being one of the last survivors of the Korbinites after their planet was destroyed by Surtur (the big fiery guy from Thor: Ragnarok).

But, let’s be honest, it's a bit too soon to start guessing. Chances are, we won't catch another glimpse of Thor until 2026, at the very earliest. Marvel's got their hands full with their current lineup as it is.
