The movie is one of few flicks that King himself can call his pride and joy.

Stephen King ’s stories are probably one of the most prolific plot lines that remain the cinema industry’s priority decades after the novels’ first publication. Many of those adaptations were quickly forgotten while others became a cult classic that even modern remakes might not even be able to beat at some point.

The latter is the case for Stephen King’s first ever adaptation of, well, his first ever published novel, with both the movie and the book turning the author into one of the most successful and most adapted writers of modern times.

Luckily, the movie that started it all isn’t hiding anywhere and now can be found on the free streaming service’s platform.

Released back in 1976, Carrie came as the first film adapted from King’s debut story and follows Carrie White, a vulnerable teen who is constantly mocked by her peers at school and, in addition, mentally abused by her mother at home.

When Carrie starts noticing weird things happening around her, she realises that she might have abilities for telekinesis; it is then when she decides the time has come for starting vengeance on those who ever did her wrong.

The movie stars Sissy Spacek, as well as Piper Laurie, Amy Irving, John Travolta, William Katt, and Nancy Allen.

The chilling horror is only followed by Stand by Me, The Shawshank Redemption and Misery, the movies that also received praise and high scores upon their arrival at theatres.

Apart from that, Carrie was a major box office success, garnering almost $34 million with the initial budget of less than $2 million.

Do you think Carrie is still Stephen King’s best adaptation ever?
