It might be even easier to get rid of his character than make him someone’s happy boyfriend.

Virgin River is that soapy drama show that you start watching out of boredom, but then suddenly find yourself totally invested in the lives of all the main characters.

There are five seasons of the show, with the last two episodes coming out on Netflix on November 30.

It's easy to develop feelings for these small-town folks: each one has a secret or a dramatic backstory that ultimately makes you love or hate them. And then there's an absolute favorite, Preacher, the whole package of a man, who has unfairly suffered the most on the show. Especially when it comes to his love life.

In the beginning of the series, the writers made him fall in love with Paige, but their story is so complicated that it is more like a thriller than a soap opera storyline. Later in the series, he finds out that his love interest and her son Christopher are actually hiding from her abusive husband Wes.

In season 2, Wes showed up unexpectedly and tried to force Paige to leave town with him. They got into a fight, and Paige ended up killing him in self-defense. She then asked Preacher to help her get rid of the body. Being a person who cares about his loved ones, he helped her, only to lose her later in the show when she decided to leave town anyway.

Preacher mourns for some time, but suddenly finds himself in a new relationship with his aikido teacher Julia, but it doesn't last long as he decides to break it off when Paige suddenly comes back for literally 5 seconds and leaves the show again. At that point, fans started praying that this would be the last time they would ever see her.

But what happened in season 5 was probably the most unexpected twist in the character's story. Instead of going back to Julia or staying alone for a while, he suddenly finds himself with a new love interest, Kaia, who fans fear is actually bad news for him, because season 5 left us hanging on that body discovery in the woods.

Fans think that Preacher has some strong self-destructive patterns.

“I think Preacher only goes for women who can ruin his life. His association with Paige will probably get him incarcerated and Kaia is just scary. Preacher apparently isn’t interested in a woman like Julia who is calm and has her sh*t together,” Redditor momobeth said.

Well, the only hope is that the upcoming holiday episodes will bring some cheer into his life and finally make him happy. So don't forget to tune into Netflix on November 30 to watch the new episodes.

Should Paige and Preacher have been an endgame couple?
