Where does the desire to be beautiful actually come from?

Summary:

  • Amy Farrah Fowler is one of the brightest The Big Bang Theory characters
  • Her appearance was the ongoing joke throughout the entire show.
  • At the end of the series, she finally got her glow-up, but not all fans were happy about it.

The Big Bang Theory was on air for 12 seasons, and during all that time, the main characters have gone through many changes, both mental and physical. We saw Penny and Raj changing their hair styles several times, and Sheldon and Howard becoming considerate boyfriends from the joke of the men they were.

However, there was a character who seemed to have wanted that change more than anybody, but didn’t get it until the very end of the show. Of course we are talking about Amy Farrah Fowler, the brilliant scientist also known as Sheldon’s girlfriend.

Amy's upbringing was strict and rather Spartan, to the point where she wasn't even allowed to pierce her ears because her mother thought it was something only a call girl would do.

So she was forced to wear only unfashionable clothes that didn't suit her figure and to use almost no make-up. Needless to say, it was something that made her suffer for many years.

But when she finally got the glow she wanted, Sheldon wasn’t the only one who thought the "before" version was better than the new one.

“I understand the story was that Amy didn't feel good about herself and wanted the makeover, but she looked beautiful before. I know they joke throughout the series about her "dressing like an old lady" but she's always been cute,” Redditor tmps1993 said.

And there's no doubt about it. But the fact is that it was she who felt insecure all those years, and her makeover was something she owed to the little girl inside.

She was finally in the right place in life: she had a fiancé, many real friends, she had won a Nobel Prize!

Therefore, she needed her appearance to match her inner confidence, so the glow-up was an absolute necessity. So let’s give that “after” version the love it needs!
