History says they were best friends, but do you always get jealous over your best friends like that?

The shippers of Wenclair — Wednesday Addams and Enid Sinclair from Netflix 's new adaptation of Wednesday — refuse to buy the "best friends" label that the show puts on the iconic duo.

If you look at some moments that Wednesday and Enid have shared throughout the first season, you might soon discover yourself several pages into a Wenclair fanfic, because the chemistry is definitely strong. But it's not only about good parts like the iconic hug in the end of the season, but also about the two being openly jealous several times.

Let's look at some of them.

Enid Not Trusting Tyler

It's fair to note that Enid was suspicious of Tyler from the very first episodes. She was not sure that Wednesday could trust "that normie", and she was clearly unpleasantly surprised when Tyler turned out to be their "Uber driver" for the night when Wednesday wanted to breach lockdown and explore the old Gates house. It's only ironic that Enid turned out to be right in the end.

Wednesday vs Enid's Boys

Wednesday Addams has also not been particularly fond of potential love interests for her bestie. When Enid was getting ready for her date with Ajax, Wednesday said what many fans have deemed to be one of the most romantic things ever (in Addams standards, of course): "If he breaks your heart, I'll nail-gun his".

Wednesday Wasted Its Male Protagonists, And That's a Problem

Then, when Wednesday hears that beekeeper Eugene is into Enid, she quickly tells him that "the chance that Enid ever becomes romantically interested in you is less than one percent".

"Interesting Choice of Date"

One of the most iconic jealousy scenes in the show is when both roomies arrive at the ball. Wednesday's date is Tyler (and we all remember what Enid thinks about Tyler), while her werewolf bestie is joined by Lucas, the mayor's son.

Both girls are openly judgemental about each other's dates, with Enid dubbing Wednesday's choice "interesting", and Addams hitting back with "I could say the same". Girls, next time you know who to ask out.

Yokogate

Yes, the entire drama around Enid and Wednesday fighting and Enid moving out of the room to have Yoko as her new roommate has already received a name in the fandom. "Yokogate" is a joking reference to how Enid desperately tried to make Wednesday jealous, and judging by the old married couple-style bicker the two had over Enid moving out, it worked out just fine.

Will Wednesday Be Renewed For Season 2?

Despite all of these little moments, Wednesday and Enid are currently just best friends, even though their hug in episode 8 was almost unanimously named the show's "most romantic thing" by fans.

It's unclear whether Netflix renews Wednesday for another season and what are the chances of Wenclair shippers winning if season 2 does happen. But they surely do not lose hope.
