Get ready to say goodbye to Ted Lasso, Beard, Rebecca, Nate, AFC Richmond and the rest of the gang which we all adore as there is every indication that Season 3 of the popular Apple TV+ series will be the last.

Season 3, which will also introduce Ted's mom, will most likely end with AFC Richmond beating West Ham United for the Premier League Championship – at least this only seems logical. Remember the final episode of Season 2 when Nate (Nick Mohammed) lash out at Ted (Jason Sudeikis ), then resign as AFC Richmond's assistant coach to become head coach of West Ham United acquired by Rupert. This rivalry narrative is likely to build up throughout Season 3 to have an obvious, if still satisfying, finale.

But it looks like Ted Lasso's next season is one big problem. Back in September it was reported across the industry media that the show faced production delays and money problems. Perfectionism was allegedly another issue too as Jason Sudeikis insisted the script for Season 3 should be rewritten. The filming started in March and the budget has since increased by up to 30% of what was the initial figure. So, Season 3 is expected to be the most expensive one of all Ted Lasso seasons.

"We'll see you for Season 3, at some point," was the final line in Jason Sudeikis' acceptance speech in September.

Still, Apple TV+ 's Ted Lasso Season 2 was a huge success. The show has become the most watched one on Apple TV+ and saw a staggering boost of 6 times in viewership between Seasons 1 and Season 2. It got 20 Emmy nominations in total and the showrunners polled four awards in major categories, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Best Actor and Supporting Actor (Comedy Series or Musical) awards for Jason Sudeikis and co-star Brett Goldstein, and a directing award (MJ Delaney).

This June Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) has said the writers worked on a three-season arc. So, it means Season 3 should be the last.

"It was planned as three. Spoiler alert: everyone dies," Goldstein joked (via The Times).

Jason Sudeikis has also said he was not sure Season 4 will happen after all.

"It's up to more factors than myself. The response to the show has been overwhelming. We have a tremendous group of writers. We have a tremendous group of actors. We have a tremendous group of people in production and post-production," he said (via Variety). "All of those things are thrown into the jambalaya of possibility. So, I couldn't say yes or no. I do know that this part of the show is what it's supposed to be."

The release of Ted Lasso Season 3 is slated for 2023.
