Yellowstone Fans Call Episode 5 Worst So Far: Here's What's Wrong With It
Where do we even start?
Despite its outstanding numbers, Yellowstone season 5 has not been particularly welcomed by fans, with each new episode causing a wave of frustrated comments online and calls for showrunners to finally change something.
Unfortunately, episode 5 is no exception: after its premiere on Sunday, fans flocked to social media to label the new episode as the show's worst so far. Here's what went wrong.
Beth. Again.
The episode, titled Watch 'Em Ride Away, appeared to once again be unnecessarily focused on Beth, even though her haters are counting days in hopes that she gets killed off. People noted that every episode does not need to be a "creepy tribute" to Beth, but episode 5 once again has her dragged into a fight with someone.

That Cringe Face-off With Summer
Before the Dutton family heads out to brand their cattle, they had a family dinner — which turned out to be just as tense and uncomfortable as pretty much any family scene in this show. Even though John warned Beth that she is better off staying silent if she can't say anything nice, she goes on to label Summer "a hooker" — only for the two women to head out and have a good old brawl outside.
But even though the majority of the fandom dislikes Beth and her ways, Summer's behavior was so cringe-worthy people were almost happy that Beth took issue with her.
"When Summer started talking about the deer grazing, minding their own business I had to get up and start drinking to get through this episode," Redditor Windshieldpoop shared.
Drama No One Asked For
Yellowstone appears to be relying on drama even at times when it seems cringe-worthy and unnecessary, fans noted after episode 5. It looks like characters are starting to get overdramatic even when there is basically no reason for that.
"The worst part was Monica crying, as if she was never going to see her son & husband again. WTF was that about? They're just gonna go brand some cattle," Redditor _csurf_ said.
Nothing Happens
Despite the season being this dramatic, fans feel like virtually nothing is happening, and no character is developing. The real conflict and excitement in the show has become incredibly mundane. In the entire episode, they were preparing to do some ranch work, and two grown women ended up getting into a physical fight. And that's all that happened.
The fifth season consists of 14 episodes, so there is still time for Yellowstone to sprinkle the brawls and dramatic one-liners with some actual storytelling — even though fans are starting to lose hope that this will actually happen.
