Is it time for the Beth haters to actually... chill out?

There is hardly a more controversial character in Yellowstone than Beth, with even her fans slowly turning into haters as Season 5 progresses, maintaining her image of a meanie that we have to praise as a strong woman for some reason.

The lack of development in her character has caused frustration in the fandom, but it looks like season five may be on its way to actually giving Beth some sort of redemption arc - or just making her a little less awful than she currently is.

At least that's what some fans thought after watching episode 3.

"Beth called Carter "Baby" again! But this time, she didn't take it back," Redditor KYBourbon89 noticed. "She apologized to Rip as she's starting to feel guilt about her old ways. She's held Tate's arm when at the hospital after Monica's accident. She's crying over talk about her mom. Little by little, she's becoming more vulnerable."

Sure, Beth started a drunken fight by smashing a bottle over a woman's head at the end of the episode, but change is supposed to be slow, right?

Some fans thought that Season 5 was setting up an endgame for her character, as "her demons slowly catch up to her, she becomes more human, [and] loses her edge. This could mean anything up to and including the character being killed off, or maybe we will finally see Beth as someone who is no longer a horrible person, but rather someone who has learned a valuable lesson.

What seems to take far too long for some people is, as it turns out, just right for others.

"I love watching her slowly (so, so slowly) change and grow as a character. I love that her story arc is seasons long, not just another basic plot wrapped up within one season, as she would be in so many other shows," Redditor miss_kimba said.

No matter what surprises Yellowstone has in store for Beth, she is in a bad place right now. After starting a fight at the bar, she was arrested and may end up in jail - something many haters would love to see happen, even if it means more trouble for other characters.

Developed by Paramount Network, Yellowstone Season 5 premiered on November 13, with Season 5 set to consist of 14 episodes. It's unclear if the show will be picked up for more seasons.
